You've Been Screaming, My Dear

Oh, I know the procedure is hard to hear

An essential limb of your body,

AMPUTATED

But you’ve been screaming, my dear

For so long that your voice has begun to crack.

Why don’t you give it a break and listen to what I have to say?

That I’m sorry my dear

That I’m so, so sorry my dear.

I cannot imagine what it must have been like

Your gradual realization of the missing limb

A weird feeling..slowly shifting your eyes

downwards to your chest your heart must've been racing

I cannot estimate the dilation of your pupils

The gasp that left your throat

And the hollowing cries

MY LIMB

MY LIMB

WHERE IS MY LIMB

The preceding disgust

at the empty whole therein

That I am so, so proud of you my dear

For walking on earth with that darkness within
