They were Not Normal
i saw you walk across the courtyard
i saw you notice me, on the bench
you looked at me then yourself
shook your head, and went ahead
what a waste of time,
what a waste of time
but, good lass,
you seem just my kind
so i stopped you with my foot
indeed over it you tripped,
sat next to me, upon which i began unfolding the plaster beneath your heart
you were so pleasantly flustered,
i don't think someone like me ever gave you much attention,
kept stumbling over your sentences,
that giddiness was a sort of
high to my gut
it concealed the perfection of my lines
because I've been watching you for quite some
time
