In There We Meet
You spend your days looking for something
On the tops of mountains
you fall and fall and fall
Earthquakes wish to be you
Avalanches adore you
But, my friend,
Why so vertical?
And why
Up?
I mean, that's where you're always looking
Even when we're talking
You jerk your head unto the sky
as if you're being called by the sun
Head tilted
Legs lifted
And a hand outstretched
I can see it, you know
I mean, if you want to marry the y axis
By all means,
do so
But help me understand
why your right hand
is clutching mine?
And I'm curious,
whether you notice those roots
growing horizontally down
your neck?
I mean i don't mean to step on your toes I'm sure you must know
that to swing is to go?
