I Preach Nothing

I am not a thing, I preach nothing

don't think I'm self-debasing, only assuring

that what I say does not matter

what you think matters

what you say to yourself matters

what you say matters

if you're too weak to sing,

you don't have to sing

you can move your lips as if to sing

without pushing out the heavy weight of your vocal chords out your throat

you can do that

I know you know that

and I didn't need to say it

but I did

to thank you for reminding me

that I am not a thing, I preach nothing
