Flittering Ivy

Ivy's eyes twinkle in the fluorescent lights,

she flitters into sight from a land far away,

and pretends to be one of us, just to light our day

she smiles, because she knows

as she tilts her head forward to meet my gaze

and laughs, and twinkles, and jumps and cries

but she is the saddest of us all

she is the deepest of us all

she flitters to me because she knows I am just as her,

dark as her,

kind as her,

I am dark, dark, so dark

I live in a dungeon and I just want to be understood for my darkness

I want you to know that I sleep upside down, and that I have fibers encompassing me all around
